WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Yummy Bowl, a new Mongolian and stir-fry restaurant, will open in the township in two months.

The dine-in restaurant will replace the former location of Mirakuya Japanese restaurant.

Yummy Bowl is a self-selection dining experience in which customers can choose their protein, vegetables, seasoning and noodles. Customers can choose from more than 40 different ingredients.

The protein selection will consist of chicken, beef, pork, lamb and more. There will also be seafood and vegetable options available for customization.

The restaurant will feature round Mongolian tables for customers to sit at while their food is cooked in front of them.

According to the owner, Jay Weng, Yummy Bowl will also house a sushi bar.

Weng, who owns other Yummy Bowl restaurants in Illinois and Indiana, is eager to offer another healthy food option in the area.

“There’s something special about this. People can get what they want and choose what they want at the bar. It’s a different way to eat healthy,” Weng said.

Weng will own the restaurant with his cousin, Leo Weng, who is from Wilkes-Barre. Weng said the Yummy Bowl franchise is ‘”family-owned” and his family members help him run each location.

Prior to its opening, Yummy Bowl will be hiring around 20 people to host and cook. Applications will be available via Indeed before opening or in person once the restaurant opens.
