What were your favorite Times Leader stories of 2023? We took a look at the 15 most-read local stories at timesleader.com to see what garnered the most online attention this year on our website.
While everyone may have a personal list, web statistics for what does best on our site often reveal interesting trends that the average reader might not admit out loud: Crime and court stories almost always rank high on the list.
It seems a lot of people really, really wanted to read about local DUI checkpoints, too.
But all was not doom and gloom. Other highlights included tax auction sales, a popular downtown Wilkes-Barre concert, new retail developments, and the new train excursions between Pittston and Jim Thorpe.
It’s worth noting that one of the stories was from a previous year — which does happen for various reasons, often thanks to external links, though the timing and reasons for a spike are not always obvious.
