WILKES-BARRE — With a new 4-year term secured in November, Mayor George Brown now sets his sights on his plans for the City in 2024.
Here are the mayor’s New Year’s resolutions:
• Enhance the Community Policing Program with the addition of bicycle patrols and increased manning of the Police Substations.
• Secure adequate voluntary donations to complete the Special Needs Playground at the Bog Park in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre.
• Work closely with the city’s Entrepreneurial Partners to promote future positive economic developments plans within the City.
• Continue the current aggressive pothole patching program on City roads and park areas.
• Continue to offer quality public safety services to the residents, visitors, and businesses in the City of Wilkes-Barre.
• Upon arrival, utilize the new 45-foot Mobile Health Unit to better serve the Community.
• Continue the Vaccines for Children program.
• Promote the working relationship of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department with the new FBI Substation located at the Wilkes-Barre Police Headquarters.
• Build a positive working relationship with the current and new members of Wilkes-Barre City Council and the new Wilkes-Barre City Controller.
• Continue the upgrading of the 18 parks in the City to include Special Needs Equipment.
• Secure funding to house up to 50 homeless people 7 days per week for 2024 at the new Keystone Mission transition center.
