WILKES-BARRE — Tuesday marks a big day for Wilkes-Barre City government, as the city’s annual reorganization meeting will officially welcome two new members and establish new leadership for city council.

Among those declaring oaths of office are newly elected city council members Stan Mirin and Jessica McClay, who will represent Districts C and E, respectively.

Incumbent city council members Mike Belusko, District A; Tony Brooks, District B; and Bill Barrett, District D, will also officially be sworn in for another four-year term on Tuesday.

During the meeting, city council chair (currently Belusko) and vice chair (currently Barrett) will also be nominated for the next term.

Mayor George C. Brown will also declare an oath of office for his second term as Wilkes-Barre City Mayor, and Tony Thomas will do the same for his first term as City Controller.

The meeting will also establish:

• The 2024 Holiday Schedule

• The 2024 meeting dates for council

The reorganization meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the F.M. Kirby Center on Public Square.
