JACKSON TWP. — Police in Jackson Township charged a couple with burglarizing a residence along state Route 29 last month.

Jami William Jones, 28, of Avoca, and Dana Vanessa Dresing, 27, of Forty Fort, were charged with forcing open a padlock basement door and stealing items on March 28, according to court records.

Jones told police they are “urban explorers” and wanted to explore the vacant residence, court records say.

Dresing allegedly recorded their exploration of the vacant residence that had posted “No Trespassing” signs on the property.

According to the criminal complaints:

Police received information of suspicious activity that two people were removing items from the residence and loading the items into a Volkswagen Beetle on March 28.

When an officer arrived at the scene, Jones claimed they are urban explorers and wanted to explore the house as they noticed it was vacant. Jones initially denied entering the house but later admitted he went inside while Dresing used a cellular phone to record their exploration, the complaints say.

Jones told police at the scene he believed the items he took were abandoned and planned to resell the items.

Jones and Dresing admitted to stealing items from the house in written statements, the complaints say.

Jones and Dresing were arraigned Monday by District Judge Rick Cronauer of Wilkes-Barre on charges of burglary, defiant trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. They were released on $7,500 unsecured bail, each.
