WILKES-BARRE — A former Luzerne County sheriff deputy charged by Wilkes-Barre police with obstructing an investigation of a stabbing in 2021 was sentenced to probation.

Latoya Armanis Robinson, 34, of Sharpe Street, Kingston, pled guilty to hindering apprehension and obstructing administrative law before Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas.

Robinson was sentenced to one-year probation on both charges.

Wilkes-Barre police charged Robinson while investigating a stabbing inside a store in South Main Plaza, South Main Street, on Oct. 27, 2022, according to court records.

Court records say Marquise Rochester, 32, who was Robinson’s boyfriend, entered the store and stabbed Dionte Taylor.

Taylor told police, court records say, he ordered food at Taqueria El Paraiso in the plaza and waited outside when he recognized someone he believed was from New York saying a few words.

Taylor spoke to Rochester who became agitated and drove away in a Dodge, only to return and follow Taylor into a convenience store where he stabbed him, court records say.

Robinson was recorded on surveillance cameras entering the store and picked up the knife she placed in a pocket. When questioned by police about the stabbing, Robinson claimed she had no knowledge and was home cooking, court records say.

Rochester was sentenced June 22, 2023, to six-months to two years in prison on a simple assault charge.
