WILKES-BARRE — Joell Yarmel, executive director at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing arts, on Tuesday said the recent high raking of the venue by Pollstar highlights the Kirby Center’s commitment to delivering outstanding performances and exceptional experiences to its audiences.
Yarmel said this acknowledgment by Pollstar, a leading trade publication for the concert industry, reflects the Kirby Center’s dedication to bringing a diverse array of top-tier entertainment to Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding communities.
The F.M. Kirby Center announced its recognition by Pollstar in their mid-year reporting.
The historic venue has achieved a remarkable milestone, finishing 91st worldwide and 73rd in the United States among theaters in total tickets sold — outperforming many larger-sized theaters.
“This accomplishment reflects the dedication and passion of our entire team, the tremendous support from our patrons, members, and partners, and the exceptional artists who have performed on our stage,” Yarmel said. “This achievement would not have been possible without the great partnerships of many promoters and friends throughout the country. We are truly honored to be acknowledged as one of the top theaters in the world.”
Since its grand opening in 1938, the F.M. Kirby Center has been a cornerstone of the cultural and performing arts scene in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The venue’s rich history and stunning architecture have made it a beloved landmark, while its diverse programming continues to attract a wide range of audiences.
From world-class concerts and family entertainment to community events and educational programs, Yarmel said the Kirby Center remains dedicated to enhancing the cultural landscape of the region.
“The Pollstar ranking not only celebrates the Kirby Center’s past achievements, but also sets a high bar for the future,” Yarmel said. “We look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence and bringing more unforgettable performances to the stage.”
