WILKES-BARRE — A Luzerne County judge Monday revoked bail for a Dallas Borough man scheduled for trial in October on charges of possessing child sexual abuse materials and endangering children by residing in a house filled with animal feces, rotting food and garbage.

Judge David W. Lupas determined Bruce Myers, 61, violated conditions of bail when he contacted one of four children despite being ordered not to have any communications with the minors involved in his criminal case.

Myers was jailed at the county correctional facility awaiting trial scheduled to begin Oct. 21. Myers faces four counts each of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person, two counts of child pornography and one count of criminal use of communication facility.

During Monday’s revocation hearing, a child testified they received online communications via cellular phone from Myers in violation of bail conditions.

Myers had been free since Oct. 10, 2023, on 10-percent of $20,000 bail posted by Nicholas Amone, who testified Monday that the cellular phone belonged to him.

Detectives with the district attorney’s office while investigating several cyber tips went to Myers’ residence on Machell Avenue on May 4, 2023.

Upon arrival at the residence with a search warrant, detectives encountered a house filled with garbage, animal feces, dirty clothing and rotting food that littered the floor and hallways, according to court records.

Myers’ estranged wife, Cheryl Myers, was found sleeping on a recliner as Myers was found on the second floor in a bed, court records say.

When Myers was advised about the cyber tips, court records say, he claimed it wasn’t his fault and only downloaded adult pornography from internet sites.

Four children were removed from the home that was condemned by Dallas Borough.

Animal control officers removed a number of dogs and cats from the house.

Court records say Cheryl Myers, 59, was sentenced July 24 to two years probation on a single count of endangering the welfare of children. She has since relocated to another county.
