WILKES-BARRE — A Shickshinny man was court ordered to repay more than $161,000 he stole from the Mocanaqua Polish Falcons Club where he worked as a bar steward.
Jimmy L. Zarr, 65, of West Vine Street, was sentenced earlier this week by Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. to immediate parole when given credit for 11 days time served at the county correctional facility on a theft offense. Zarr was further ordered to serve one-month house arrest with electronic monitoring, serve five years probation and pay the Polish Falcons Club $161,960 in restitution.
Zarr pled guilty to the theft charge on Sept. 16.
Pennsylvania State Police at Shickshinny initiated an investigation in November 2022, when board members of the club reported a large amount of money could not be accounted for.
When an audit began to determine how much money was missing, Zarr — as the club’s bar steward responsible for financial transactions, abruptly resigned, according to court records.
During an interview with investigators, Zarr blamed computer issues and possibly others who had stolen money while he was on vacation, court records say.
