KINGSTON — A man on state parole initiated a pursuit with Kingston police that ended in a crash involving another vehicle on Main Street in Plymouth.
Jonathan Ferraro, 28, address listed as Loch Sheldrake, N.Y., was arrested after he crashed into an occupied vehicle during a pursuit he initiated in Kingston at about 12 p.m. Wednesday, according to court records.
A Kingston police officer discovered Ferraro’s vehicle, a 2008 Volvo, had an expired registration while stopped for a red traffic signal on Wyoming Avenue at Market Street, court records say.
Police in court records allege Ferraro failed to stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed while traveling south on Wyoming Avenue passing vehicles as he traveled through Edwardsville, Larksville and into Plymouth.
Ferraro struck an occupied vehicle on Main Street near Academy Street in Plymouth that disabled his vehicle, court records say.
Police said the other vehicle Ferraro struck flipped onto its roof.
An odor of marijuana emitted from Ferraro’s vehicle as Ferraro admitted, court records allege, he recently smoked marijuana and used methamphetamine.
Ferraro was arraigned by District Judge Joseph Spagnuolo of Plains Township on two counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, and one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude police, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and four vehicle and traffic citations. He was jailed without bail at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
