HAZLETON — Police in the City of Hazleton are investigating a shooting in the area of the basketball courts at the Beech Street Playground that injured one person on Thursday.

Police responded to the playground for gunfire at about 5:30 p.m. and learned a person was transported in a vehicle to a local hospital. The person was treated and released from the hospital’s emergency room, police reported.

Those who reside near the playground with surveillance cameras are requested to review footage and to contact Hazleton City Police via 911.
