FREELAND — A man from Monroe County wanted for skipping court proceedings in Monroe County Court and allegedly stealing a vehicle in Freeland was captured.
Joshua Adam Macumber, 36, of Henryville, was charged by Freeland police with stealing a 2014 Jeep Cherokee from a residence on Pine Street on April 16, according to court records.
Macumber took the vehicle without authorization after an argument with a woman, court records say.
Court records say Macumber returned to the residence with the Jeep, engaged in a physical altercation with another man, and initiated a foot pursuit involving Freeland police and police from Butler Township and White Haven.
When he allegedly stole the Jeep, Macumber was wanted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department on a judge’s bench warrant for failing to appear for court on drug and evading police charges filed by the Stroud Regional Police Department in October 2024.
Macumber was captured Tuesday in Monroe County and jailed at the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
Freeland police charged Macumber with unauthorized use of a vehicle, flight to avoid apprehension and theft. He has not been arraigned on the charges by Freeland police.
