EDWARDSVILLE — Police in Edwardsville arrested Darren Keith Jackson, 25, after a woman reported he raped her inside of an apartment on Beverly Drive on Sunday, according to court records.
Jackson was arraigned by District Judge Carol A. Davenport of Shickshinny on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, criminal trespass, reckless endangerment, simple assault, sexual assault and two counts each of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault. Jackson remained jailed Wednesday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $250,000 bail.
According to the criminal complaint:
A woman reported she arrived home early Sunday morning after being out with friends and Jackson called her vulgar names. She claimed Jackson punched her in the head and struck her with a phone charging cable.
As the woman was taking a bath, she told police Jackson entered the bathroom and attempted to drown her, the complaint says.
Police in the complaint say the woman did not remember how she ended up in bed where Jackson sexually assaulted her.
When officers spoke with Jackson, he denied sexually assaulting the woman. He accused her of physically assaulting him because she was intoxicated. Jackson claimed he helped the woman take a bath because she had vomited and denied having sexual relations with the woman after she returned home that morning.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
