WILKES-BARRE — The Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA’s annual Kentucky Derby Gala was held Saturday evening at the Westmoreland Club. Guests made their red-carpet arrivals in their Kentucky Derby attire, with many wearing the traditional hats associated with the iconic horse race.

The event coincided with the official 152nd Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

After viewing the broadcast of the race, guests enjoyed dinner, music and cocktails at the historic Westmoreland Club. The event also featured a silent auction which runs through noon Sunday, May 3.

All money raised at the event benefits working families of Luzerne County in need of child care support.
