Teenager disrupts court proceeding, yells threats at judge, staff

WILKES-BARRE — A Plymouth teenager facing charges of firing multiple shots at an occupied vehicle disrupted a court proceeding Friday when, after his bail was revoked, he yelled threats directed at a judge and staff, and kicked a stenographer’s steno machine, according to multiple courthouse sources.

Shauntinque Haskins, 17, of Center Avenue, appeared for a bail review hearing before Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael T. Vough.

Vough revoked Haskins’ bail, resulting in Haskins being jailed at the county correctional facility.

Multiple courthouse sources say Haskins “flipped out” and refused sheriff deputies’ commands when directed to an area inside a courtroom where defendants are searched and handcuffed. Haskins yelled threats that he was going to kill the judge and several staff members and kicked over several heavy oak chairs, sources said.

After Haskins was secured in handcuffs, he was taken to a smaller courtroom on the third floor, where, sources said, he kicked a steno machine valued at approximately $7,000 and continued to yell threats and expletives.

Detectives with the district attorney’s office are investigating.

Haskins, then 16, was charged as an adult by Plymouth Borough police after he allegedly fired multiple shots at an occupied Toyota in the area of West Shawnee Avenue and Academy Street on May 8, 2025. Several spent rounds passed through the rear windshield, court records say.

Haskins was charged by police with reckless endangerment, simple assault, propelling missiles into an occupied vehicle, illegal possession of a firearm by a minor, criminal mischief, and several summary offenses.

Haskins was released after he posted $50,000 bail through a bondsman on April 30, with conditions of house arrest with electronic monitoring at the Center Avenue, Plymouth, address.

Prosecutors filed a bail review motion on Wednesday alleging Haskins was at “various non-approved addresses, including overnight.” One address Haskins allegedly stayed overnight was at 270 Lee Park Ave., Hanover Township, which has not been approved by the court’s pre-trial services.

In their bail review petition, prosecutors sought additional conditions, including a curfew for Haskins.

After Vough revoked Haskins’ bail, he disrupted the proceeding by refusing sheriff deputies’ commands, yelling threats and vulgarities, and kicking over chairs and a steno machine, sources said.
