WRIGHT TWP. — Two men were charged by Wright Township police with burglarizing and stealing items from a self-storage unit on South Mountain Boulevard last week.
Surveillance security cameras recorded a black 2015 GMC pickup truck turning into Hoyt’s Self-Storage and Car Wash, where two men forced open a storage unit and stole items on Aug. 6, according to court records.
Police in court records say Flock cameras in the area identified the registered owner of the GMC as David Manuel Deroy, 41, of Buck Ridge Drive, Drums, Butler Township.
Police went to Deroy’s residence, where they also encountered Christian James Reinmiller Jr., 30, of Berwick Street, White Haven, court records allege.
Deroy consented to a search of his residence, where, court records say, police found items stolen from the storage unit. Police further learned that Deroy and Reinmiller allegedly placed stolen items in another storage unit in Butler Township.
Deroy and Reinmiller were arraigned by District Judge Matthew Carmody of West Pittston on charges of burglary, theft, criminal conspiracy, and criminal trespass. Deroy was further charged with criminal mischief.
Deroy was released after posting $5,000 bail, while Reinmiller remained jailed Monday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
The Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton, Troop N, assisted in the investigation.
