WILKES-BARRE — Police said two men were caught burglarizing a residence Friday morning on East Chestnut Street and one of them was in bed pretending to be asleep.

Juan Kinchen, 22, of Wilkes-Barre and Michael Hughes, 30, no known address, were arraigned on charges of criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night, possession of instruments of crime. Hughes was also charged with flight to avoid apprehension.

Police said officers were dispatched to the residence after a third party reported hearing glass breaking.

According to police: Officers arrived on scene shortly after 4 a.m. and found evidence that the residence had been entered. Officers entered through an open door and located Kinchen who was wearing gloves and had a flashlight and costume jewelry. They found Hughes upstairs covered in bed pretending to be asleep. Both men were taken to police headquarters and later transported for arraignment. Hughes also was wanted on a warrant from Luzerne County.

Kinchen and Hughes were held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $20,000 bail each.
