FREELAND — Officials in Freeland are set to declare a state of emergency due to numerous water outages in the borough.

Gerald Fessiner, vice chairman of the Freeland Water Authority, said about 60 household are without water due to frozen lateral lines from the main water line.

Fessiner was meeting with officials from Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency to determine when a state of emergency would be announced. Officials are working with the elementary school in the borough to help residents affected by the frozen water pipes to retrieve water.

Residents are also able to get water from the Freeland Fire Department and the YMCA is open for anyone interested in showering.

Fessiner said most of the households without water are in the Chestnut Street area.
