The Luzerne County Transportation Authority’s new schedule for CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park goes into effect on Monday.

JENKINS TWP. — Starting this Monday, there will be local bus service into the CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park six days per week.

Norm Gavlick, interim executive director of the Luzerne County Transportation Authority, released the schedule today.

Route 19 for CenterPoint East & West will depart the James F. Conahan Intermodal Transportation Center Monday through Friday at 6:32 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 2:32 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.. and on Saturdays at 9:32 a.m. Stops at the park include Sky Zone, Lowes, Corning, E.O.L., C3i and Home Depot.

“We anticipate this route to grow very quickly, so we will be adjusting and expanding as we go,” Gavlick said.

Route 19 will be departing from/arriving at Gate 4 at the intermodal.

The schedule will also be posted on the LCTA website, www.lctabus.com, and will be on the LCTA’s new AVL (Automated Vehicle Locator) map within a few days for online access.

“This was an important route to add to our schedule since it provides access to jobs for many people who couldn’t get to the CenterPoint park,” Gavlick said.

Gavlick said 3,000 to 4,000 people work at the park. Employers there have told him they need to hire more people, but many potential employees have no means of transportation other than a taxi, which can be expensive. A one-way bus trip costs $1.50.
