WILKES-BARRE — A life behind bars.

That is what Holly Ann Crawford was sentenced to Friday by Luzerne County Judge Fred A. Pierantoni III. Crawford, 40, of Sweet Valley, was convicted Sept. 23 in the April 2014 fatal shootings of Ronald “Barney” Evans, 73, and his 43-year-old son, Jeffrey Evans.

She was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for two charges of criminal homicide and two additional sentences of 20 to 40 years for two charges of criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide.

Crawford and her boyfriend, James Edward Roche, agreed to drive to Ronald Evans’ Hunlock Township home to confront him after a character in the movie “Boondock Saints” reminded Roche of the man with whom Crawford had a prior sexual relationship.

Once at the home, Crawford lured Evans to the door where Roche shot him several times with a .22 caliber rifle. Roche claimed in a recorded statement to police that Evans was brandishing a pistol, which prompted him to open fire.

After proceeding into the house, Roche has said, he shot Jeffrey Evans out of fear that he, too, was armed.

Autopsies showed the elder Evans was shot four times in the chest and torso and Jeffrey Evans was shot five times in the back.

Roche, 33, of Sweet Valley, was convicted Nov. 6 of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide in the fatal shootings. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 8

Court documents also indicate Crawford has to pay $5,891.24 in restitution to the Luzerne County District Attorney’s office, as well as joint restitution of $39,277.95 with Roche.
