WILKES-BARRE — Police are searching for a black man who allegedly robbed a residence on the 500 block of South River Street early Wednesday morning.

Police said at approximately 2:41 a.m., officers received a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, an officer saw a black man wearing a black shirt jump over a fence and flee the area, according to police. Additional officers arrived but could not find the man, police said.

The South River Street residence is currently being renovated and entry was made through a basement window.
