HAZLETON — A free back-to-school immunization clinic is being offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, according to state Rep. Tarah Toohil.
The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 15, at Annunciation Parish (St. Gabriel’s Church), 122 S. Wyoming St., Hazleton.
Immunization will be conducted by appointment only. Toohil said the clinic will be open to children who are uninsured and those insured through state Medicaid. Private payers must call a doctor to see if the vaccine is available at the office.
Parents must bring a copy of their child’s immunization record to the clinic.
A new state law required parents to have their children immunized by the fifth day of the school year, as opposed to previously allowing eight months, says a press release from Toohil’s office.
Those interested in the free clinic should call the Department of Health’s local office at 570-826-2071 to make an appointment.
