WILKES-BARRE — A man and woman from Nanticoke face simple assault and disorderly conduct charges after police responded to a report of a domestic dispute Monday morning at a motel on Kidder Street.

Ornika Luton, 19, and Daetrell Byron are each free on $10,000 bail after their arraignments.

Police said when they arrived at 7:40 a.m. they saw Byron running from Luton who was swinging a large wooden board with steel springs on it. The man and woman were causing a disturbance that attracted motel guests, police said. After Luton and Byron were separated, Luton was placed in custody, police said. At that point Byron became aggressive and yelled at an officer that Luton didn’t do anything to get arrested, police said. Police then arrested Byron and took both him and Luton to headquarters where they were booked.
