WILKES-BARRE — A Wilkes-Barre man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a gun charge stemming from a 2016 shooting.

Joshua Miller, 29, admitted to a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and was immediately sentenced by Luzerne County Judge David Lupas to four to eight years in state prison. He was credited 612 days for time already served.

The charge against Miller came after an incident in February 2016 in Kingston. Witnesses say they saw Miller pointing a handgun out of a limousine and shooting an unidentified female, who fled the scene.

When police stopped the vehicle on Market Street, Miller ran into the parking lot of United Penn Plaza.

Felony charges of escape, receiving stolen property and firearms not to be carried without a license, along with misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person and resisting arrest, were withdrawn.

Miller also pleaded guilty in another case, where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance by an inmate.

For that offense, he was sentenced to two to four years in state prison. He was credited 247 days for time served.

Lupas ordered that Miller’s two sentences run concurrently, or at the same time. That will reduce his prison stay.
