WILKES-BARRE — A Wilkes-Barre man is in a hospital after police say he was attacked by two men armed with machetes early Wednesday.

The attack took place just after 1 a.m. on Carey Avenue, authorities say.

The 48-year-old victim said two black males were waiting for him to leave his residence, approaching him with machetes as he was leaving.

Police say one of the males began smashing a vehicle, while the other slashed at the victim’s arms.

The victim was taken to a medical facility by a private vehicle.

Police say the investigation is continuing.

No further information is currently available with regard to the suspects, including a possible motive.
