The Diamond City was mentioned Sunday night during one of the country’s most popular TV dramas.

Eugene Porter, a recurring character on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” who is played by actor Josh McDermitt, referenced Wilkes-Barre while speaking to another character on episode 7 of Season 8.

The Wyoming Valley-inspired dialogue went like this:

“Given that this building is currently surrounded by a Wilkes-Barre of walkers, I don’t see an escape attempt without putting to use the same flawed technique of innards, which landed you in your status-quo p——poor condition,” he said.

It’s unclear what Porter meant by the statement. The most literal interpretation would be that a “Wilkes-Barre of walkers” could mean a small city of zombies.

The show depicts the weeks and months following a zombie apocalypse, according to Wikipedia. Characters commonly refer to the zombies as “walkers.”
