HAZLETON — A man told city police he was drugged and sodomized for several hours Wednesday inside a residence on East Maple Street.

Police were alerted to the alleged sexual assault when a 22-year-old man went to Lehigh Valley Hospital — Hazleton for injuries he suffered during the alleged attacks.

After serving a search warrant at the residence, police arrested Julio Angel Cuevas, 50, of East Maple Street.

Cuevas was arraigned Thursday in Luzerne County Central Court on two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and jailed for lack of $30,000 bail.

According to a criminal complaint:

A man told police he went to Cuevas’ residence Wednesday morning and was directed to a bedroom. He claimed Cuevas threatened to kill members of his family if he did not snort an unknown substance.

The victim said he snorted the substance out of fear his family would be harmed.

After snorting it, the man told police he immediately felt nauseated and dizzy and vomited. He was told to undress and put on red shorts.

The victim was then forced to perform oral sex and was sodomized for several hours by Cuevas.
