WILKES-BARRE — A protection-from-abuse order granted by a judge Thursday alleges that a Wyoming Valley West student sexually assaulted a 14-year-old female student in a classroom last month.

The filing also suggests there are other victims.

The order, filed by an adult woman on the girl’s behalf, alleges the sexual assault occurred Dec. 5 in a “bio lab class” at Wyoming Valley West High School.

It accuses a male student of first touching the girl’s leg, before touching the area of her genitals and finally reaching up her shirt to grab her breasts.

Charges have been filed against the male student, the PFA states. Attempts to reach Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis for more details were unsuccessful Thursday.

The PFA says the girl has seen various professionals for treatment after the incident. She’s been to the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center, the Victims Resource Center, her family doctor and a psychologist, the filing states. It also says the girl is “in the process of being home-schooled” so she no longer has to attend class.

The document alleges the boy involved continues to harass the teen girl, sitting on the bleachers with his friends directly across from the girl at a recent game.

“To my understanding, other victims are coming forward,” wrote the woman who filed the complaint. She described herself as someone applying to be the girl’s guardian.

The allegations about additional victims could not be confirmed. Wyoming Valley West officials and Plymouth Borough Police did not return calls by press time. WVW High is located in the borough.

The protection order, signed by Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas, blocks the boy from having any further contact with the girl. The order does not have an expiration date. It will remain in effect unless rescinded.
