WILKES-BARRE — A Wilkes-Barre man accused of robbing a string of local stores after blowing $70,000 on a drug addiction has pleaded guilty to several of the counts against him.

Adam Migatulski, 30, pleaded guilty Thursday to four felony counts of robbery and a misdemeanor count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Migatulski entered the plea before Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough.

Vough ordered Migatulski to pay restitution amounting to over $1,000 to his various victims. Migatulski was remanded to the state prison at Camp Hill, and he will be sentenced at a later date.

Police arrested Migatulski early last November while he was sleeping in a car that wasn’t his behind a Bradford Street home. He was initially jailed on an outstanding warrant for receiving stolen property.

After his arrest, police accused him of robbing Wilkes-Barre stores Peter’s Ice Cream and Deli on Blackman Street, Curry Donuts on Hazle Street and Pantry Quik on Carey Avenue, all in only two days.

Later, he was accused of also robbing the Rite Aid in the Luzerne County Shopping Center in Pringle, where police say he got away with several hundred dollars in cash.

“I did what I had to do, I was drug sick,” Migatulski allegedly told police.

Migatulski said he spent $70,000 on cocaine and heroin, turning to robbery when the money ran out, court records state.

More serious charges against Migatulski were withdrawn last December. Assistant District Attorney Jarrett Ferentino said this was done in exchange for Migatulski’s plea.
