WILKES-BARRE — Accused in a string of burglaries, a Swoyersville man pleaded guilty to a slew of charges Friday.

Brad Lopuhovsky, 40, entered guilty pleas on eight felonies and two misdemeanors, including six counts of burglary and counts of criminal trespass and theft.

Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas did not set a specific date for sentencing, but ordered counsel to have a pre-sentence investigation completed within 45 days.

Lupas also ordered Lopuhovsky to be transferred to a state prison so he could be evaluated for the State Intermediate Punishment program.

Police say Lopuhovsky and Erik Bruno, 46, of Exeter, attempted to break into homes in Dallas Township, Kingston Township and Lehman Township, all on Aug. 9.

The attempted robberies in Dallas and Kingston townships were both thwarted by alarms. But the Lehman Township home was ransacked, and a newly purchased dress and purse were stolen.

Lehman Township Police later obtained surveillance video from the Marshalls store in Wilkes-Barre Township, showing the suspects returning the dress and purse, court papers say.

In September, Lopuhovsky was arrested in Swoyersville for breaking into a Lackawanna Avenue home, allegedly stealing cash and jewelry from the residence.

Also in Swoyersville, police say he and Bruno twice broke into a Chapel Street home Sept. 20, first taking jewelry and other items, later returning to take apart a table and finding two envelopes with cash.

Bruno knew about a secret compartment in the table from previously working in the house, police said.

Lupas ordered Lopuhovsky to pay $13,454 in restitution to his various victims and the Pennsylvania State Police. This amount is likely to go up, with one victim’s restitution yet to be determined.

Court records show Bruno is set to appear in court before Lupas on March 16, and he also has a trial date set on a burglary charge for May 14 before Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr.
