EDWARDSVILLE — A car crashed into the rear of an Edwardsville medical facility Monday morning, causing some damage to the building that looked like a large dent in the wall.

Edwardsville Police responded to the Thomas P. Saxton Medical Pavilion, a Commonwealth Health laboratory located at 468 Northampton St., for reports of the crash.

A representative from Edwardsville Code Enforcement said that the building suffered no major structural damage, but the crash did leave large cracks in the wall, making it possible to see inside.

So far, the cause of the crash is unclear, as is the condition of the driver. Attempts to reach Edwardsville Police for comment were unsuccessful early Monday afternoon.

Lindsey Fredericks, communications coordinator for Commonwealth Health, said she had not been made aware of the incident, but that she would reach back out with more information once it was made available.
