KINGSTON — A man detained by police said he forget he had a bag of marijuana in his underwear when the bag fell out during a strip search, arrest papers say.

Neon Lavon Pearson, 44, of West Market Street, Kingston, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Page Avenue due to an inoperable license-plate light at about 1:20 a.m. Thursday, authorities report.

Pearson allegedly used another name and date of birth to identify himself. When police learned Pearson was wanted by state parole officers, he was detained and searched.

Pearson was arraigned in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of tampering with evidence, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $10,000 bail.

Court records say Pearson was sentenced by Luzerne County Judge Tina Polachek Gartley in February 2014 to three to six years in state prison on a felony firearm offense.

In that case, Wilkes-Barre Township police said they found a loaded .38-caliber handgun inside a vehicle operated by Pearson on April 15, 2011.
