WILKES-BARRE — A man who allegedly stole a hospital transport van and crashed into a wall outside the Luzerne County Courthouse last month was arraigned Tuesday on theft charges.

Police said they found Frank Jason Good, 39, Larksville, sleeping on the passenger seats of a van that crashed into a wall behind the courthouse March 21. Police said the van’s engine was still running at the time.

An officer entered the van through a rear emergency door exit and placed the vehicle in park.

Good was awakened and unaware of his location, authorities report.

He needed assistance exiting the van and barely was able to stand, they say. A sandal Good was wearing was under the accelerator pedal, police noted.

A medical bracelet on Good’s arm indicated he was discharged from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where he claimed he was treated for an allergic reaction to a spider bite.

Police said the van sustained front-end damage, and the courthouse lawn and wall were damaged.

Good, of East Broadway Street, was arraigned by District Judge Thomas Malloy in Wilkes-Barre on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and driving under the influence. He was jailed for lack of $10,000 bail.
