PLAINS TWP. — State police at Wyoming allege they captured a man wanted for a burglary in Plymouth and possessing marijuana after a pursuit that began near Wilkes-Barre and ended outside center city Scranton early Sunday morning, according to court papers.

Yuamir Supreme Grayson, 21, of East Main Street, Plymouth, was caught in the area of Lackawanna Avenue and Seventh Avenue, Scranton, after he fled his vehicle near a used car lot at about 4 a.m., state police said.

State police said they found marijuana and more than $2,400 cash in Grayson’s vehicle.

A records check revealed Grayson was operating a vehicle with a suspended license and was wanted by the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department on a charge he failed to appear for a preliminary hearing in Luzerne County Central Court on marijuana possession charges filed by Wilkes-Barre Township police. Grayson was also a person of interest in a burglary in Plymouth early Sunday morning, state police said.

According to the criminal complaint:

State police patrolling North Wilkes-Barre Boulevard in Wilkes-Barre spotted a 2006 Mazda Tribute traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was attempted on the North Cross Valley Expressway near the entrance ramp to Interstate 81.

Grayson failed to stop and continued at a high rate of speed north into Lackawanna County, turning onto the Central Scranton Expressway and Spruce Street through center city Scranton. Grayson turned into Mifflin Avenue and Lackawanna Avenue where state police attempted a “pit maneuver” to terminate the pursuit.

A second attempt to end the pursuit also failed, but caused Grayson to turn onto Seventh Avenue. Grayson pulled into a used car lot where he fled his vehicle on foot.

Troopers and Scranton police officers chased Grayson, who was caught near Lackawanna Avenue.

State police allege Grayson had an odor of alcohol and marijuana and appeared to had bloodshot and glossy eyes, the complaint says.

Grayson allegedly told state police he smoked marijuana prior to the pursuit.

State police said the cash found in Grayson’s vehicle was allegedly stolen during a burglary in Plymouth.

Grayson was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, driving without a license, driving under the influence, and multiple traffic citations. He remained jailed Monday at the county correctional facility for lack of $50,000 bail.
