KINGSTON TWP. — A woman accused last month of assaulting a girl was arraigned Monday on allegations she choked a boy last year.
Township police on March 26 charged Bobbie Jean Rodriguez, 31, of East Center Street, Shavertown, after a girl and boy ran from her home to a residence on Summit Street. Police said the boy claimed Rodriguez came home intoxicated and got in an argument with his sister. Rodriguez allegedly punched the girl in the face.
The girl and boy locked themselves in a bathroom and Rodriguez chased after them, forcing open the bathroom door, a criminal complaint states.
Police said the girl and boy then fled Rodriguez’s residence.
Officers report they later found the woman in a “drunken lethargic state.” She had a .24 percent blood-alcohol level when she submitted to a breath test, the complaint says.
During an interview at the Luzerne County Children’s Advocacy Center on March 27, the boy alleged Rodriguez struck him in the face and put him in a headlock sometime in the spring of 2017. He claimed Rodriguez became angry because he was telling jokes with his sister, the complaint says.
Due to the recent allegations by the boy, Rodriguez was arraigned in Luzerne County Central Court on Monday on charges of strangulation, endangering the welfare of children and simple assault. She was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Police last month charged Rodriguez with endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment in the case involving the girl. She was released on $1,500 unsecured bail on those charges.
In addition, Luzerne County Children and Youth Services has placed three children in protective custody, authorities say.
