WILKES-BARRE — A man who goes by the street name “Dollar” was arraigned Monday on charges he returned stolen pregnancy tests for a refund and stole a woman’s cell phone by force.
Jarrett T. Edmonds, 35, of South Hancock Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arrested on separate warrants.
City police allege Edmonds entered the Rite Aid Pharmacy on East Northampton Street on April 10 and returned stolen pregnancy tests. As part of the transaction, Edmonds provided his identification card and was given $287.88 for the return.
Police said the pregnancy tests were stolen.
In the other case, a woman told police she was robbed of her cellphone by a man she knows as “Dollar” at her apartment on South Welles Street on Feb. 10. She identified Edmonds from a photo array after the alleged cellphone heist, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said the woman reported she was attacked by “Dollar” who pinned her to the ground, and jammed his knee into the back of her neck. She alleged “Dollar” forcefully removed $100 cash, a prepaid debit card and a bank card from her shirt.
Prior to the alleged robbery, she said “Dollar” arrived at her apartment with another man she knows from attending sobriety meetings.
Edmonds was arraigned by District Judge James Haggerty in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of theft and receiving stolen property for the alleged fraudulent return at the pharmacy. He was released on his own recognizance on the theft-related charges.
He was also charged with two counts of robbery and one count each of theft, receiving stolen property, harassment and simple assault for the alleged incident on South Welles Street. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $10,000 bail on this case.
