KINGSTON — Police allege a woman from Wilkes-Barre concealed a syringe in her buttocks when she was searched after being detained on an unrelated arrest warrant, according to court records.

Jessica A. Benson, 25, of North Walnut Street, was arraigned Friday night by District Judge David Barilla in Forty Fort on charges of tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $35,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint:

Benson was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for an expired registration sticker on Wyoming Avenue on Feb. 23. A records check revealed Benson was wanted by the county sheriff’s department.

Benson told police she had nothing concealed on her body.

An officer noticed Benson making furtive movements while handcuffed and seated in the rear seat of a cruiser.

During a strip search at the county correctional facility, police allege a syringe was found in Benson’s buttocks.
