WILKES-BARRE — City police are seeking the owner of two dogs after a small child was bitten at the Hollenback Dog Park on Tuesday evening.

The dog owner is described as a heavyset white male with black hair who had two husky dogs.

Police said the child approached one of the dogs and it bit him on the arm. The child’s mother took him to the hospital for treatment at about 8:30 p.m. and never had an opportunity to speak with the owner, police said.

Photos posted on social media by a woman who identified herself as the boy’s aunt showed what appeared to be a small child with deep, bloody puncture wounds on his arm. The post said the child was undergoing surgery as a result of his wounds.

Efforts to reach the woman and confirm her report were not immediately successful late Tuesday, and the post was later removed.

The child’s condition was not immediately known later Tuesday.
