COURTDALE — Police arrested a 21-year-old woman after she allegedly molested a teen girl inside a vehicle on Corby Road over the weekend and gave the youth marijuana.

Facing charges is Talyia Popovich of West Wyoming.

Police said they received complaints about two females sitting in a van that had been parking along Corby Road and leaving trash behind.

On Saturday, police located the van just before 7 p.m., allegedly occupied by Popovich, 21, and a 14-year-old girl, according to a criminal complaint. Officers said they detected a marijuana odor coming from the van.

When asked about the pot, Popovich allegedly surrendered a marijuana pipe, the complaint says.

Popovich allegedly admitted to officers that she smoked marijuana and allowed the teen girl to take a few hits from the pipe. Police allege they found two marijuana cigars, a loose chunk of marijuana and a bag with wrapping papers inside the van.

Police said they also observed evidence of possible sexual activity. The teen allegedly told officers that the activity had been consensual and she was not being held against her will.

The teen was returned to her father, and was scheduled to be interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center, according to the complaint.

Popovich was arraigned Saturday by District Judge Michael Dotzel in Wilkes-Barre Township on charges of aggravated indecent assault, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of corruption of minors. She was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $75,000 bail.
