HANOVER TWP. — A man deemed a sexually violent offender in New York and a fugitive in that state was arrested by township police investigating a domestic dispute in the Marion Terrace apartment complex.
Police said they took Robert Christopher Williams, 31, into custody on an arrest warrant from the New York Department of Parole.
Williams was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Joseph Spagnuolo Jr. in Luzerne County Central Court on a fugitive from justice warrant and jailed without bail at the county lockup.
Online records from the New York Division of Criminal Justice Services and Department of Corrections say Williams was convicted of sexual abuse of a person incapable of consent and criminal possession of a weapon on April 30, 2013. He was released on parole Sept. 5, 2017.
According to a criminal complaint from Hanover officers:
Police responded to a domestic dispute involving Williams and a woman at 506 Mark Drive just before 2 a.m. Tuesday.
As officers were speaking with Williams and the woman, Williams admitted he was wanted in New York for a parole violation. Police confirmed the warrant issued in Bronx County, New York, on March 27.
Police listed Williams’ address as 506 Mark Drive, Hanover Township. His address listed on the New York Megan’s Law website is in Bronx, N.Y.
