KINGSTON — A First Avenue home was damaged after an intense shed fire spread to the house Thursday afternoon.

No injuries were reported, but the combination shed/garage was destroyed, Kingston/Forty Fort Fire Capt. Ray Elick said.

Because of damage to the back part of the house at 44 First Ave., its residents may be temporarily displaced, Elick added. At least two adults and a child live there, he said.

There were no vehicles in the shed, which was jointly used by the residence at 48 First Ave., said Elick.

The blaze, which was reported at 4:31 p.m., sent thick black smoke billowing over the neighborhood, which was visible from around the region. The shed was “fully involved” when firefighters arrived, Elick said.

The cause was not immediately known, and a State Police Fire Marshal was en route to the scene later Thursday.

About 20 firefighters from Kingston/Forty Fort and Edwardsville responded to the scene in the residential neighborhood just west of Market Street.
