HUNLOCK CREEK — Cami Kyttle, of Hunlock Creek, was initially confused when she first received a call asking for her wedding date.
“(The Times Leader) called and asked me if I was still getting married on May 18, 2019. My first thought was, ‘How does this person know that?’ Then it was explained that I had won the contest, and I was so excited.”
The Times Leader and Photography by Jay collaborated to create the Distinctive Wedding Giveaway. The giveaway awarded a local bride-to-be a photo package as well as gift cards from sponsors such as Bakery Delite, Kranson Clothes Inc., Michael Mootz Candies, Tucker’s Travel Shoppe, Sandals, and Gerri Bridal Shop.
Kyttle works MotorWorld, but previously was a preschool teacher for 10 years. Her husband-to-be is from Harveys Lake, but is currently deployed overseas. He is expected to stay deployed until year’s end.
“This is the first deployment I’ve ever experienced but this is his third,” she explained. “It’s definitely an adjustment.”
“When he heard we won the contest, he was really excited, especially for the photo package.”
Kerry Miscavage, advertising director for the Times Leader, explained why the contest was created.
“We have found that anything that has to do with weddings has a high engagement,” said Miscavage. “We try to do as many things as we can to get our readers actively involved with the content of our paper.”
Kyttle found the giveaway helpful, and spoke about her planning for the wedding.
“We are going to splurge on some things but still keep it reasonable,” said Kyttle. “I want my wedding to be fun, something to remember. I want it to tell the story of us.”
