Man charged with assaulting pregnant woman in Wilkes-Barre


WILKES-BARRE — City police arrested William Lecitshon, 38, after a pregnant woman claimed he punched her in the stomach intending to kill the unborn child on Saturday, according to court records.

Police responded to a domestic dispute on John Street just before 5:30 a.m. when a woman claimed Lecitshon assaulted her and fled. Lecitshon was arrested when police spotted him in the area of North Pennsylvania Boulevard and John Street.

According to the criminal complaint:

Luzerne County 911 received an emergency call for police regarding a man who punched a woman in the stomach telling her, “I’m going to kill the baby.”

After police arrived at the residence, a pregnant woman told officers Lecitshon pushed her to the floor and choked her with his hands. She claimed Lecitshon punched her in the stomach stating he was going to kill her and the unborn child.

Lecitshon allegedly spat at the woman and refused to let her leave.

Police said the woman refused medical treatment.

Lecitshon was arraigned by District Judge Joseph Carmody in West Pittston on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats, strangulation and harassment. He was released after posting $5,000 bail.
