NESCOPECK — Upset about dinner, a man threatened to slit his ex-girlfriend’s throat while she was caring for her 2-year-old daughter, according to court records.
Cody James Drumheller, 24, was arraigned Monday afternoon after state police at Shickshinny investigated a domestic dispute at his apartment he shares with his former girlfriend on Third Street.
A 24-year-old woman alleged Drumheller became angry about dinner and threatened to slit her throat with a knife when she called for help Sunday night.
According to a criminal complaint:
State police responded to the apartment at about 8:20 p.m. when the woman called 911. She was able to give only “yes” and “no” responses to questions as Drumheller was in the same room threatening to kill her if she did not hang up.
When troopers arrived, Drumheller fled the house.
The woman claimed Drumheller arrived home and after taking a shower, he asked about dinner. She reported Drumheller raised his voice and became angry when she responded to his request about dinner.
When she told Drumheller to lower his voice because she was attempting to get her daughter to fall asleep, Drumheller kicked a speaker, overturned a table and grabbed two knives.
Drumheller broke the handle off one knife and held the blade, threatening to slit her throat.
Drumheller was arraigned by District Judge Joseph Carmody in West Pittston on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $20,000 bail.
