HAZLETON — An alleged dealer of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine was arrested Wednesday after a three-month investigation by city police and the state Office of Attorney General’s Luzerne County Drug Task Force.
Royal Berys Astactio De La Cruz, 24, of 99 1/2 S. Pine St., was arrested during a traffic stop in the area of 13th and Vine streets.
De La Cruz was the target of an investigation that began in March.
Authorities allege De La Cruz delivered more than 340 grams of fentanyl and heroin and approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine.
After his arrest, authorities allegedly found a loaded handgun and two cell phones in his vehicle, and more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, 50 grams of heroin, a digital scale, various cutting and packaging materials and a ledger containing names and prices at his residence.
De La Cruz was arraigned by District Judge Joseph Carmody in Luzerne County Central Court on seven counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, five counts of criminal use of communication facility and a single count of firearms not to be carried without a license. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $250,000 bail.
