WILKES-BARRE — A man from Trinidad and Tobago is in custody for allegedly forcing oral sex on a city teen.

Lloyd Lyndon Wood, 47, was arrested early Thursday after police responded to a sexual assault report at a Melrose Avenue home.

Upon arriving, police said they met with a man who said he was the father of a 14-year-old girl. According to the father, at around 5 p.m. Wednesday, Wood grabbed the girl and forced her onto a bed.

Police say Wood forcefully removed her pants and began performing oral sex on her. Police say the girl fought off Wood by kicking him and running away. She informed her father of the incident when she arrived home.

The father told police Wood was still in the residence when they arrived, saying he was visiting from Trinidad and Tobago and that he was scheduled to take a bus to New York in a few hours.

Wood was taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned Thursday morning on a charge of aggravated indecent assault on a person less than 16. District Judge James J. Haggerty set Wood’s bail at $200,000.

Wood remains locked up at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of bail. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 26.
