For the second time this year, Verizon Wireless customers in Luzerne County are without service.

According to Luzerne County 911’s Facebook page, Verizon wireless will likely not be able to contact 911 with their cellphones.

The post advises anyone with an emergency to use a landline, a device on another carrier or go to the nearest emergency services station. Crews are being sent to those stations.

A representative of Verizon Wireless said through Facebook messenger that the company was unaware of the outage because it had not been reported as of 9:41 p.m.

However, as of 10:24 p.m., and other representative said the company was aware of the outage and working to correct it, although the company did not comment on what caused the problem.

Earlier this year, Verizon suffered similar outage that went largely unexplained by the company.
