WILKES-BARRE — An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman accused of assaulting and robbing a 19-year-old over a dispute about money owed for makeup.

City police detectives are searching for Nubia Lopez, 25, who they say assaulted Victoria Obitz in an apartment and hallway at the Sherman Hills complex June 3.

Lopez’s last known address is 476 N. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre.

Police said there were others who participated in the assault but have not yet been identified. The incident was recorded by surveillance cameras, police said.

According to a criminal complaint:

Obitz was invited to the apartment by a man she knows as “Mel,” who police identified as Jamel Ryeheem Johnson. When Obitz arrived, she was told Johnson went to a store and asked to wait inside the apartment occupied by Lopez and several other women.

Obitz recognized Lopez as they purchased makeup from each other.

Lopez asked Obitz for money and struck Obitz in the face and head, knocking Obitz to the floor. Other people in the apartment jumped in and participated in the assault.

The fight spilled into a hallway as Obitz tried to escape.

Lopez took a wallet containing $70 from Obitz and smashed Obitz’s cell phone on the floor.

Obitz claimed Lopez asked her where her vehicle was parked as she wanted to “(Expletive) it up,” the complaint says.

Police said Obitz suffered a large laceration above her eye and other facial injuries. She was treated at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Police obtained an arrest warrant from District Judge Thomas Malloy for Lopez, who is charged with robbery, simple assault, theft and criminal mischief.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Lopez or the identities of others involved is asked to call detectives at 570-208-4201. Callers can remain anonymous.
