DUNMORE — Act Out Theatre Group LLC has partnered with a representative for the Lularoe clothing brand to raise funds for the youth theatre.

After moving from its Taylor location to Dunmore in May, Dan Pittman, the theatre’s owner and artistic director, realized upgrades needed to be made to the lighting system.

“While rewiring our system, we learned we needed new cables as well as dimmer boxes for our lights,” said Pittman, of Plymouth.

Katie Lane, a Lularoe consultant and an Act Out mother from Clarks Summit, offered to hold a Leggings for Lights fundraiser to help raise money for the work.

“We are trying to raise $600 for the upgrades,” Pittman said. “All of the proceeds raised from this fundraiser will go to new equipment.”

There are multiple ways to purchase leggings.

Lane will be at Act Out’s Annual Summer Revue in Dunmore through Sunday; at the Dunmore farmers market Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and she will be hosting an open house at her in-home boutique in Clarks Summit on July 17 from 4-8 p.m. Purchases can also be made on her Lularoe Group Page on Facebook.

There’s an incentive for young people as well.

“The one student ages 4 to senior in high school who refers the most people who make a purchase will receive a $100 gift certificate good toward registration fees, tickets, or merchandise at the theatre,” Pittman said.

Other fundraising opportunities at the theatre include a Double Good Gourmet popcorn fundraiser where for every $100 a student sells, they get $5 toward registration for a workshop. Act Out workshop participants will also be performing at the Dunmore farmers market on Saturday. In addition, they will be selling root beer floats and orange cream floats at the market.
