WILKES-BARRE — An attempted stabbing in the city was followed by a high-speed pursuit Wednesday evening.

The incident took place shortly after 7:30 p.m.

An officer at the scene said police were looking for a possible victim in the area of Northampton Street and Wilkes-Barre Boulevard.

Meanwhile, a male suspect on what may have been a stolen motorcycle led police on a chase north toward Plains Township and Pittston Township, possibly traveling the wrong way on Interstate 81 for part of that distance.

Reached before press time, city police said no further information was available. It could not be confirmed whether heavy police presence near the former Walmart store on Oak Street in Pittston Township was related to the incident.
